Empowering women is central to the development of any community. Last week, our trust organized a 5-day vocational training workshop focused on tailoring and embroidery for women from nearby marginalized neighborhoods.
Over 40 women participated in the workshop, which was guided by expert trainers. They learned various stitching techniques, garment construction, and even basics of marketing their products.
The workshop was not just about learning a craft; it was about building confidence. Many of these women have never had an independent source of income. At the conclusion of the workshop, the trust distributed 10 sewing machines to the most promising participants to help them start their own small tailoring businesses from home.
We plan to conduct more such workshops in the future, expanding into fields like food processing and digital literacy for women. When women earn, they invest in their children's education and family health, leading to holistic community upliftment.
